Brig B v Rhynie A - Spence Cup Round 1

 

1st double s match seen HAGER and  MENACE up against DAVE and DAVE E. With Rhynie the advantage of throw the first leg was pretty dire stuff with MENACE hitting double 5 to take it. 2nd leg and another leg not worth writing about as both teams failed to hit any big scores HAGER steps up to seal the win with double 10. 0 - 1

 

2nd doubles match. Up steps the veteran BUCK and JIMMER against STU and FRANK. With the home team the advantage of throw the Brig were clear favourites for this game. 1st leg comes down to the doubles as both teams score well but Rhynie hold there nerve to break the throw and take the lead. 2nd leg and with the Brig on the rope s the veteran BUCK steps it up a gear and fires in 125 100 and 85  and hits the double to give Rhynie the point. 0 - 2.

 

3rd doubles match see s the captain SPEEDY and SCOOTER against LAURIE and ROY. 1st leg with both teams struggling to find the lipstick Rhynie scrape it as they reach there double first. 2nd leg SCOOTER come s out all guns blazing hitting 140 and 139 leaving the Brig in a spot of trouble as SPEEDY checks out to give Rhynie a double s white wash. Nae luck the Brig 0 - 3.

 

1st single s match. TOSH steps in for JIMMER to play his work mate LAURIE. 1st leg and TOSH is of to a flyer as he hit s 125 100 and 100 to give him a chance at 16 dart leg. With LAURIE breathing down his neck TOSH cant hit his double and gifts the leg to his gaffer. After winning the first leg LAURIE continues his ruthless streak to claw one back for the Brig. 1. - 3

 

2nd single s match. BUCK steps up to take on STU. 1st leg and STU cant keep up with BUCK as his big scoring get s him down to his double mile s in front o STU. Once again double trouble sets in as BUCK suffers a case o stage fright and fail s to check out giving the leg to STU. 2nd leg. With BUCK failing to find the 20 s STU punishes him taking the 2nd. 2 - 3.

 

3rd single s match. SCOOTER step s up to try and stop the Brig come back against FRANK. 1st leg and SCOOTER struggle s to keep up as FRANK hit s 3 tons and hit s his double with first 3 darts. 2nd leg comes down to the double s as both players score steady 60s. With nerves setting in and both players missing chances FRANK completes the come back. 3 - 3.

 

4th single s match. MENACE against ROY. ROY wins 2 - 1 need i say more. Pure p**h think ill retire. 4 - 3.

 

5th single s match. HAGER against DAVE E. With the Brig needing just 1 point to progress to the semis the pressure was on HAGER. 1st leg. The pressure was showing as HAGER struggle to hit big but luckily his finishing was top notch to give him the lead. 2nd leg. With the nerves away HAGER get s back to business as usual with some heavy scoring and good finishing he demolishes DAVE. 4 - 4.

 

Last match. Up steps the captain SPEEDY against DAVE. With a semi final spot at stake both players knew what was at stake. SPEEDY starts off well leaving DAVE well behind after checking out with ease. 2nd leg see s SPEEDY struggle to hit the 20s and his double s giving DAVE the chance to take it all the way to the 3rd and final leg. As like last week it come s down to the captain who does not disappoint sending Rhynie through to the semi s. Well done SPEEDY. 4 - 5

 

Well done Rhynie lads good performance tonight. Thanks to the Brig for the sandwiches. Next weeks semi final see s Rhynie A take on Lumsden A who defeated the Brig A 5 - 1.
